Why is Callback Requests better than having your phone number on your website?
In some circumstances you will want your phone number on your website, but there are many times you may be better of without it!
If you can't answer your phone quickly —or at all— because you speaking with other customers or busy doing work, most customers would prefer to schedule a callback rather than calling back later and/or leave a voice mail. A study by Forrester Research found that 75% of customers think the option of a callback is “highly appealing”.
Further, a 2014 study by American Express found 34% of callers hang up and never call back if their call isn’t answered quickly. A callback can help you capture many of these customers.
Typical business hours are say 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. That is 8 hours a day, 5 days a week which is 40 hours. There are 168 hours in a week. That means you are unavailable to answer your phone over 75% of the time!
It varies from country-to-country but phone numbers on websites are often mined for lists and you get constantly interrupted by telemarketers selling solar panels, or wanting to refinance your mortgage, or a million and one other things.
